Doesn't matter how the segment is ticketed, it matters what the routing is. Any AA flight between the US and London cannot earn BA miles and vice versa. But you can earn AAdvantage miles with flights between London and Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, and South America.

I think SYD-HNL is a great idea. So is the open jaw into dunedin and out of christchurch -- i filled the gap doing this by driving the southern scenic route.

But I'm really wondering what you are thinking with the SFO-LAX-LAS-LAX bit, that's flushing a lot of precious segments that you could buy dirt cheap on a seperate ticket!!! These are very short and cheap flights. You could go to some great places with the freed up segments, dream a little more. At a minimum consider buying LAX-LAS-LAX seperately, that is a ridiculously short and cheap flight.

Hmmm, yes that makes a lot of sense. I think I got a bit carried away with the 6 North American segments, considering LAS is another of my "must see" places (I think everyone should go there at least once in their lives!).

There's more to this OWE planning than meets the eye

for the Lon- LAX on BA i earnt 180 tier and 5,400 points - as a blue,
just a note - as i just completed a rtw, ensure that you have 4 BA flights credited before you start on the trip, ie - 2 more than you have shown , if you don't you wont progress to gold, and will loose all your extra tier points above the 1500 mark
- as has happened to me.
if u are using your exec club..
