What to do with Tier Points from a RTW Ticket?

I am (and have been for a longtime) a member of the BA Executive Club. The changes to the scheme are obviously disappointing and makes loyalty a thing of the past.

We are embarking on a RTW trip this weekend and have plans for future RTWs (my wife and I are both keen travellers and recently retired). At the moment my TPs from this trip will be going to BA, but will have little value going forward (transferring the TPs from the RTW trip we are embarking on would have earned you Gold in the past, now it will be a mere fraction of what is required).

Is there a oneworld partner scheme that we should be looking at where 1,800 TPs will provide real benefit (Emerald)?

I just calculated that the DONE5 RTW we recently completed, would not have achieved BAEC Gold under the new scheme, about 5000 NTPs short, as opposed to the 1760 it gathered under the current. If I had changed the route and airlines to reduce the BA sectors, and one short haul QF sector it would have been closer but not quite there still.

Why are you jumping ship so soon, if your trip will still get you Gold under the current system, assuming you complete it by April?

I have already qualified for GGL for next year, thus the TPs I earn between now and 31st March will not provide any benefits and my ambitions for GfL have been dampened by the changes. I don't think I have anything to lose and I can get Emerald status with QR, which will be easier to retain going forward. I have not had much time to digest the changes, so if this is a bad move please let me know. I have until Saturday to make the change!

Ok, understand.

There have been suggestions that AY and IB might become popular alternatives on other threads. You’d have to look at the details and of course IB is an IAG airline, so….? I’ve also seen AS mentioned.

Hopefully, one off the bloggers/vloggers will have done some analysis before you hit the deadline.

Not sure if the general thread on OW schemes will be of help?

Deciding on a Oneworld Frequent Flyer Program? Help is here.
