Oneworld RTW and seat assignments
Hello, I have received conflicting info from the AA RTW phone reservation line about seat assignments on FINNAIR. This made me want to ask if anyone has compiled a list of the Oneworld airlines and how to get seat assignments on each one. A complete list would be helpful.
My current issue is with Finnair whose website will charge for seat assignments. One agent said after the business class ticket was paid for AA could make the seat assignments. When I called to do that, the agent said the Finnair's policy would only allow Oneworld Emeralds to make seat assignments.
Anyone have info about seat assignments? Cathay Pacific, etc.? Thanks.

One world sapphire and emerald would get free seat selection.
Is the flight number on your booking AA*** or AY***?
If AY and you do not have one world sapphire or emersld then yes, on AY or on BA you will probably have to pay for seat selection. Some of the more expensive fare buckets may include seat selection.
On AY, all cabins, flex ticket bucket tickets give free seat selection, others do not.
If you scroll down and select seating it says which ticket types include seat selection and which do not

Cathay, which cabin are you in?

I also recall one other time (DONE4, also issued by AA), I was able to get seats on all airlines by using JL online.
I was and am oneworld Emerald. Not sue that had anything to do with it.
