NRT OWE Lounge Access

I'm travelling HKG-NRT-HNL in J on an AA issued ticket. HKG-TYO is on JL and NRT-HNL is on HA. I am OWE. My understanding is I can access the OWE lounges in HKG since the first flight is on JO however at NRT I can only get into whatever lounge HA uses for J since I'm not flying a OW partner. Is that correct?

I assume you mean you are flying HKG-NRT on JL and NRT-HNL on HA? If so, then you would have Oneworld lounge access in HKG; and as you surmise, your lounge access at NRT would be whatever HA provides.

Bummer, not going to be OWE for much longer and would be nice to see the NRT JAL 1st Class Lounge. Oh well

It's nothing special, you're not missing much. Japanese airlines don't invest much into the lounge experience. Both JL and NH F lounges are just marginally better than the same C lounges. It's nowhere near what you'll get from the CX F lounges, let alone QR Al Safwa.

It's funny, I often cite OW's F lounges as the key differentiator between OW and *A, but then only a few OW airlines actually have a decent F / Emerald lounge anymore. JL isn't one of them. It's a status lounge, not an F lounge.

After stopping by the BA F lounge in LHR T5 last Friday, which resembles a bus station with feeding troughs, the JL F lounges are an oasis of calm. It's the little things that count.

Can't agree more!

I like JL F in NRT. Once in a while, I used the service of shoe polishing; and always ordered sushi & ramen!

Well, the JAL HND 1st class lounge is very nice, especially the back room with the shoe shine staff, old aviation items, and Champagne on tap. The sushi was good and there was an on-demand menu for non-buffet items. Have not been to the NRT F lounge in a long time and it is not as nice as HND.

Forgot to mention that there a luggage lockers by the entrance where you can store your carryon luggage and not worry about it.

About 8 years ago, I was in the JL F NRT lounge. My car keys dropped out of my carry-on bag, but I didn't realize it until I arrived at the next destination. So, I figured I was out of luck. But a month later, I was back at the same lounge. I thought, why not ask? I did... and about half an hour later, a lounge attendant (wearing white gloves, of course) brings me my car keys on a silver tray. Only in Japan.
