Question about baggage policy?

Hello, I’m sapphire for OW and Gold for Star, but I’m super confused about baggage.

So if I fly ABQ (AA) - DFW (JAL) - NRT (JAL) - SIN
and book via JAL.

Base on their website because my first flight is AA does that mean I only get 2 baggage check in? I know that if booked via AA it should be 3 based Sapphire (platinum with AA). Because my first flight is domestic ABQ - DFW.

Because if I look on JAL website and sapphire for international, the allowance should be 3?

Other question is I’m assuming that Gold for Star alliance is only 2 baggage if I did ABQ- DFW- DOH - SIN for qatar airlines?

Really appreciate your input

What class? First, business or economy?
QR Qatar is a Oneworld airline:- not a Star alliance airline.

***Extra baggage allowance for Sapphire frequent flyers
As a Sapphire frequent flyer, the following special checked baggage privileges will apply when you fly on oneworld airlines:
  • On international or domestic itineraries using the baggage allowance "weight" system - 15 kgs in addition to the ticketed Economy Class baggage allowance.
  • On international itineraries, that include domestic sectors, using the baggage allowance “piece” system – one additional bag*, weighing up to 23kgs, up to a maximum of two pieces.
  • On purely domestic itineraries, using the baggage allowance "piece" system, for tickets with no ticketed baggage entitlement - the assurance of one piece of checked baggage, weighing up to 23 kgs.
Customers travelling in First and Business Class cabins will, in most cases, receive an even greater free checked baggage allowance.

Note: This benefit is not available on British Airways’ 'Hand Baggage Only/Basic' fares.

*In accordance with the individual policy of the oneworld airline operating the flight. **Priority baggage handling is not currently available on flights operated by British Airways.

Exceptions may apply.

I’m flying economy. I read the policy. Got the impression that baggage is 2 bags as there’s an asterisk staying maximum of 2?

Your ticket receipt will state which airline's policy will apply and what the allowance is

AA is the 1st carrier and it will decide whether to apply its policy or that of the most significant marketing carrier. My recollection is that AA defers to the MSMC which would be JL

AA's allowance for economy for a person with OW sapphire status is 2 pieces, each max 23kg ( see https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/...age-policy.jsp )
JL's allowance for economy for all passengers is 2 pieces , each max 23kg - no additional allowance for OW Sapphire status since 2 bags is already permitted ( see https://www.jal.co.jp/en/inter/baggage/checked/ )

There is additional allowance listed for JL's own members, but https://www.jal.co.jp/en/oneworld/jmb_benefit.html is clear that OW Sapphire members from other schemes do not get that benefit

Unless you are going to have excess baggage/overweight baggage where fees could be different, it makes no odds
