MOSCOW. Feb 11 (Interfax) - Finnair plans to expand cooperation with Russian airlines and its presence on the Russian market.
Finnair General Director Keo Sula discussed the plans with Russian Transport Minister Sergei Frank, the ministry told Interfax. Also present in the talks were Aeroflot General Director Valery Okulov and Russia's State Customs Committee Chairman Nikolai Shipil.
The sides discussed possible joint projects between Finnair and Aeroflot, the possibility of Aeroflot joining the One World alliance, and problems with flights over Siberia.
The ministry said Finnair makes eight flights a week between Helsinki and St Petersburg using MD-82 planes and Pulkovo offers six flights from St Petersburg to Helsinki using the Tu-154M planes.
Closer cooperation between the two airlines is complicated because Pulkovo lacks modern aircraft.

I hope Aeroflot doesn't join Star or OW. I don't fancy risking life and limb for a few miles. I flew Aeroflot a couple of years ago and was truely scared at takeoff when we gained height sooo slowly. Also while the passengers got a crappy snack the flight-deck crew got a full hot meal! Air France are welcome to them. They're already in parnership with Korean Air which has a truely awful safety record.

From what I've heard, and from what I have read of their safety record (which on flights using Boeing aircraft is perfect except for one aberration where the pilot let his son fly the plane into the ground - I doubt that will happen again), I would be very happy to take Aeroflot flights provided that they gave me status on my MarcoPolo, which I believe they will.
The Aeroflot First Class fare out of HKG to MOW is extraordinarily good value.
