More FT thanks - DONE4

Although I did not discuss the set up of my recent acquisition (DONE4) on this Board, many thanks to all for various discussions of itineraries, rules and points of origin.

BKK x HKG YVR // SEA x ORD ANC DFW x MIA SFO LHR // AMS HEL FCO x LHR SYD // ADL PER SYD CHC SYD x HKG DEL HKG BKK.

The very patient and knowledgable ladies at CX BKK ticketed this itinerary. The only problem is that each sector is printed on a separate card and the book of ticket cards is thick enough to make an offensive weapon. Bring on e-tickets!

Whilst the itinerary is not maximised for miles or SCs, it will make for a nice trip or two.

Finally someone going to ANC for the scenery (and it is gorgeous!). Presumably you are taking the ferry from YVR to SEA. If you are driving, make a few stops along the way (La Conner for one, and maybe Whidby island).

I would echo that completely. Depending on your time of year, get a seat on the left/port side of the aircraft for the eastbound flight out of ANC - you can sometimes see the Northern Lights out during the night. We were lucky enough to see them in late August last year, but March is peak viewing (although I will admit you may find it a bit brisk for sightseeing at that time of year). Very jealous.

Notice that CX managed to print all sectors on a ticket. AA's system just couldn't do that and you'd end up with a handwritten ticket if it exceeds a certain number of segments.

E-Tickets on RTW's may not be happening for a long time.

Let's hope not.

No ferry down the Inside Passage (next time maybe). Instead, we'll be flying ANC-DUT, a week at DUT then taking the ferry back to Homer. Two weeks checking out that part of the world then back to ANC (and thence onwards).

Given the bulk of the book of tickets (all 20 of them plus several with the "passenger recipts"), I presume we'll have to have the lot with us all the time in case of needing to re-issue? Otherwise, it'd be really handy to just carry the relevant tickets (and make the associated weight / bulk saving).

I wouldn't dream of flying without all of the books (and I've had as many as 36 segments, or twice your thickness). You need all of them in some situations (not just a reissue). I keep a scan of my ticket plus passport and drivers license on the web as well as carrying a photocopy with me (since the web isn't everywhere yet).
