Questions re: CIRPAC stopovers
Apologies if the answer to this has already been posted, I couldn't find it on a search.
We are looking at a CIRPAC trip in D on the following routing:
BNA-xDFW-OGG//xHNL-xSYD-MEL-ASP-DRW-PER-SIN-HKG-KIX//xNRT-xORD-BNA
The two open jaws are for routes not flown by OW carriers, but I have two questions on stopovers:
1. There is a limit of one stopover in the country of origin, and we would like that to be OGG. However, another rule says that surface segments count as a stopover. Does that mean that the OGG-HNL flight we have to buy would count as a stopover/surface segement, even though we would plan on transiting HNL?
2. The Great Circle distance on the above routing is 26,090. Care to speculate whether they would let us use the 26K fare?? If not, we would drop SIN which would bring us under 26K distance but also allow only 5 free stopovers. We would be OK buying 2 more for SWP (Australia) but do we get charged 2 stopovers in Japan - one for the stop in Osaka, and one more for the surface segment (train) to Tokyo - or is that just one stopover and therefore within our two free stopovers in Asia?
Also, does it matter if the fare is issued by QF or AA? The reason I ask is that we have unused flight credit with QF we would like to use to offset the fare.
Many, many thanks for your help.
