Worth asking AA for downgrade comp?

Despite my confirmed D tickets on STT-JFK a couple of days ago, AA oversold the cabin and since I was last to check in I got to stand by for coach (was offered AE to SJU, thence a D flight to JFK a couple of hours later but elected not to take the delay).

I guess it's easy enough to talk to the nice plat lady and find out first hand, but does anyone have experience to say whether or not AA will toss anything worthwhile at me for the inconvenience?

I have received compensation from AA in similar situation. I was on a DONE4 ticket with LAX-JFK booked in A. WHen I turned up for my flight I was informed (without asking) that the equipment was downgraded to 757. She said the prior flight (which I could still get as I had arrived early enough) was full in A but she could get me a J seat or I could wait for a 2 hr later flight with A availability. I chose the former - and she said would credit my account with the miles difference (I wasn't sure what that meant).

The miles didn't post (for the downgrade) so I contacted AAdv. They quickly credited me with 10k.

I was actually flying as a QF Gold (OW Sapphire) but chose to have the miles deposited into my non-status AAdv account.

P.S. Watch out also for this - when they rebook you or put you in standby one of the ways they do that is put you into a "upgrade" or "award" booking class - she put me into R. My QF account only posted econ miles, but this was quickly sorted out once I provided ticket and BP. The system isn't smart enough sometimes.
