Does a ground segment count for RTW?
Hi there,
Looking at the rules I'm not sure if I would lose a 'segment' under Explorer or Global Explorer rules in the following example:
In the middle os a RTW trip I fly into Las Vegas.
1 week later I fly out of Los Angeles
I presume they only count this as one STOPOVER.
But does you own personal transfer between to 2 airports (an ARNK) count as one of your total 20 segments.
You are allowed 4 'sectors' in each region according to the Explorer rules (with some exceptions). What is a 'sector'? Do they mean a segment or a stopover! God they make this tricky

No. ARNKs don't count as segments.
Segments. You get 4 segments.

It depends on the particular circumstance. In the continent of orgin, a ground segement is considered a stopover (unless you depart from the second city within 24 hours of arriving in the first city.) For example, I am flying CAI-MAD//LHR-HKG. the MAD-LHR is part of a seperate ticket. However, if I do not leave LHR for HKG within 24 hours of arriving in MAD, then it is considered a stopover. Stopovers only matter in the continent of origin (as far as I can tell).
