Newbie - Easter Island?

Greetings,
I am planning a RTW trip starting next spring. I hope to be away 12 months, so getting info from the 'official channels' seems almost impossible since some segments are still over a year away. The reason I am thinking oneworld is to get to Easter Island on the way between Sydney and Santiago. Does anyone know if this is (still) possible?

Thanks,
Jeb

Yes. You can fly with QF SYD-AKL-PPT or SYD-LAX-PPT and then pick up LA from PPT-IPC. Alternatively you could go SYD-AKL-SCL using LA (also a QF codeshare) and then pick up SCL-IPC from there.

Take a look at the One World timetable (http://www.oneworld.com) to work out dates/times.

Er, yes and no. The AKL-PPT and LAX-PPT segments are on Air Tahiti Nui. This is a valid airline for a Global Explorer (if booked under the QF code), but not for a OneWorld Explorer.

On a OWE you need to go SCL-IPC-SCL and according to a strict interpretation of the rules this will be in economy even if your ticket is a higher class, although several people have reported here that this is not enforced.
