Determining Class

Okay I'm new to Oneworld, but looking to purcahse a ticket out of Cairo. I'm using the Oneworld timetable to sort out my flights. Now I've seen mention of various classes....how can I determine the class of the flight using the timetable? Which class should I be looking at flying within economy?

I'm not yet a member of Oneworld, so want to join before I go. I'm thinking of joining Qantas, can I do so via their website?

Thanks Nomi

According to New (and potentially bad) changes to OWE the new booking class for economy OWE will be L.

For QFF there are some exclusions or discounts to base points with some carriers which are listed here.

If you wish to join QFF and have an address outside of Australia or NZ then you can do it for free here

I notice that L will be the class for directly booked in economy (instead of M) but what about downgraded First and Business tickets. If no A is available, will it be considered D or J in business and what about economy (will it be L or Y). I read in some other post that it should be Y if you are waitlisted on A or D.

I read the fare rules posted from BA but could not find this info on class booked for downgraded travel.

Looking through the rules, the only reference I can find is under the reservations paragraph:

. ECONOMY BUSINESS FIRST
AA/AY/BA/CX - INTL L D A
IB/QF/EI/LA - INTL L D A
AY/EI/LA/LP - DOMESTIC L Y Y
BA WORLD TRAVELLER PLUS - T CLASS - ECONOMY CLS

So I guess that's the way the downgrades go, but I'm sure there's someone out there that can talk from personal experience.
