MONE5

Hi guys,
I'm planning my RWT trip and I'd like to have some advices on my itinerary.
here it is:

LHR-DEL
DEL-HKG
HKG-BKK
SIN-AKL
AKL-SCL
SCL-PUQ
GIG-SCL
SCL-LPB
UIO-CCS
CCS-GUA
MEX-MXP

Is that correct for a MONE5?
Too many stops in SCL? Do I have to change GIG-SCL, SCL-LPB with a GIG-LPB without stopping in SCL?
I hope to purchase the ticket in London and to finish thel trip in Milan.
Do you think it could be possible to find a cheap flygth (less than 600 USD$ round-trip) CCS-GUA, and then flying back CCS-MXP , to purchase a MONE4 instead of a MONE5?

Really thanks in advance!!
Mao

Hi Mao

There's no direct OW flight from BKK-AKL [though you could route this via HKG and pick up a CX direct flight from there; otherwise it's QF/BA to SYD/MEL and a QF connecting flight on from there].

South America is where you come unstuck as this is where you're reliant on the services of Lan Chile and Lan Peru. Suggest you take a look at the respective route maps of each [most flights outside of Chile and Peru will involve a routing via SCL or LIM].

You can go back to SCL as many times as you wish within the 4 included sectors, but anything longer than 24 hours will be regarded as a stopover. You also need to watch those sectors adding up: UIO-CCS for instance will involve using LA and connecting in SCL or AA via Miami.

Given that the bulk of your travelling is in S America you may find it more advantageous to buy a Visit South America pass to use in conjunction with your MONE, though I defer to others on this board as to whether it's permissible to do so.

Have a great trip.

Something like this -

LHR-DEL-HKG-BKK-SIN-SYD-AKL-SCL-PUQ//GIG-SCL-LPB//UIO-SCL-CCS//GUA//CCS-LHR

- goes where you want to in a 4 continent configuration but it isn't pretty. Standard return fares between CCS and GUA are about US$700. The difference between a 4 and 5 continent fare ex-LHR is slightly less than that and you would get to fly around NA a bit, if you so desired. In addition, you will need to buy one extra segment in SA to get from UIO to CCS as you have to go back through SCL. That will cost you another 75. Finally, you have to end your trip in the UK as that is where you started it.
