newbie RTW question
What happens, if I have a First-Class RTW and there is no A-availebility. If I book business class, will I get miles credited for First (since it is a First ticket), or do they only credit the miles in the class flown???
BTW: what is the booking class for business on a RTW?

Well, yes and no. If it is a flight which does not have first class at all then, yes, you get business class mileage.
However, if you booked in A and get involuntarily downgraded to business due to overbooking then you should still get first class mileage (likewise it you get op-upd from D to First you still get business class mileage).
In my case I have taken a voluntary downgrade when booked in D, but with my gf on an economy class ticket. In this case I managed to talk CX in to giving me business miles even though I flew in economy.
I'm not sure if this would work if there was no A/D availability so that I had to involuntarily booked in D/M.

Anyone have any [positive] experiences of op-ups from D to A when on a RTW ticket? I'm presuming that BA tends not to, given its keeness not to cheapen the F cabin but CX may do so given that it constantly overbooks...

When I was a BA gold I would get op-up from D RTW tkts about 30% of the time out of LHR, about 10% out of HKG or elsewhere.
As a CX Diamond I have been op-upd by AA on a NRT-DFW and once or twice on CX, but nowhere near as often as I used to on BA.
