Any advice on this MONE4 itinerary?

Hi all,

After many months of planning, I am finally ready to do my first RTW with a MONE4 starting in my homebase of Vancouver. I will be departing at the end of September. Any advice or comments on my itinerary are greatly appreciated. I have decided to join CX's Asia Miles FF program, so my milage calculations are according to the AsiaMiles website. So,does this look correct?

ASIA:
YVR-HKG: CX 6381 miles
HKG-SIN: CX 1592 miles
BKK-Karachi: CX 2300 miles
DEL-HKG: CX 2326 miles
HKG-CMB: CX 2492 miles
CMB-HKG: CX 2492 miles

Africa:
HKG-JNB: CX 6630 miles
JNB-NBO: BA 1808 miles
NBO-JIB: BA 987 miles
JIB-ASM: BA 385 miles
ASM-NBO: BA 1156 miles
NBO-JNB: BA 1808 miles

Europe/Middle East:
JNB-LHR: BA 5637 miles
LHR-CAI: BA 2195 miles
IST-LHR: BA 1561 miles
LHR-TUN: BA 1137 miles
LPA-LGW: BA 1801 miles

North America:
LHR-MEX: BA 5532 miles
SJO-NYC: AA 2210 miles
NYC-YVR: CX 2442 miles

Please note that all gaps will be made up by overland trips or by purchasing additional seperate flights while on the road.

Total # of segments: 20
Total # of CX Asia Miles: 52,872 (except I don't think I can count the AA SJO-NYC flight because CX's Asia Miles doesn't credit AA flights???)As far as I read the AsiaMiles rules, M class flights on CX and BA earn 100% miles, but not AA...is this correct?

Thank you in advance for assistance with my RTW planning.

Tim

It looks ok except that you have 5 segments within each of Asia and Africa. You can do this, but there is a cost for the additional segments.

If you look here:
http://www.asiamiles.com/am/1,,22481...rtravelcredits
You will see that M class gets 100% credit on AsiaMiles for all the airlines you plan to use.

It's the other way round that you can't do (i.e. flights on CX in M get no credit on AAdvantage)

Just out of curiosity, how come you are going to Djibouti and Asmara? I have been to a few funky places, but I admit that I would have to think twice before going to either. So I am just curious what the draw is and what there is to see and do there.

Hi Darren,

I just want to get off the beaten track and thought ASM and JIB would be somplace different to go...probably the best atractions are that few tourists go there and it has a beautiful coast line along the Red Sea as well. Finally, it fits well into the BA service in Africa with a OWE ticket.

Interesting. Good luck and I hope you write a bit about them when you get back.
