Dilemma/Stupidity/Status Chasing?
Is my thought process out of whack, should I forget it or go for it? I am a nothing at the moment status wise. Meaning that dirty B word. QFF. My period ends on 31 July and I will be 10 status credits short of silver. I am 20 miles out also. Meaning my BOM-HKG is 2,681 and I need 2701 to get points to take me over the line. Now my thinking is I have another 1,600 odd points left in travel and would like to use them to maximum. My next flight is HKG-JNB and would rather use the 160 points in next account period for a good head start. I am contemplating doing a trip from HKG if needed. What options do I have and am I being ridiculous in my thoughts of points chasing at this stage. I am doing a DONE-6.
Regards.
Regards.

What would a HKG-anywhere-HKG on CX cost you?
Can you change your itinerary to get the 10 points? Anything under 1000 miles is only 10 Status credits. 1001 miles gives you 20 SC.
KHI-HKG is 2956 miles (over the magic 2700), So you could buy a BOM-KHI one way ticket on whoever airline to get those extar miles.

Dilemma/Stupidity/Status Chasing...
Dimemma - You're short of Silver
Stupidity - No, you chose to ask all your friends at FT for a logical answer and justification

Status Chasing - Absolutely, a great idea
. I think there are plenty of good reasons (like an extra 25% bonus points for the next years flights and all the other privileges) that make it a very sensible decision. After all, most of us have done it...

I(f you are in Aus - a red-edeal is the best option. Any flight you can find will earn you 20 SC, and 1000 points (minimum) each way as well !! Just look for the cheapest fare.

Being in Bangkok at the right time helps. I just snared a great deal. All in the name of SC's.
BKK-SIN-BKK. AY 097 & AY 098. 04/07. The cost was $180 AUD. L class.
I am sure I am going to run into some problems with Thai customs.
Thank you for all your suggestions.
Greatly appreciated.
