Trying to figure out ONE4 itin...help

I have a friend who lives in NYC and wants to buy a ONE4 ex-Australia. Must visit japan on the way to NA (and not on way to/from Europe).

Problem is this:
- if routing is MEL-NRT-JFK-LHR-MEL that won't be allowed as LHR-MEL counts as going via Asia and it would be going to Asia for a second time.
- routing could be MEL-NRT(maybe via HKG)-LHR-JFK-MEL but can't go to NRT and LHR during same 'trip' - he lives in NYC.
- could buy a ONE5 and go MEL-NRT-JFK-LHR-???-MEL - but I don't know a OW routing from LHR-MEL other than through Asia(BKK, HKG, SIN).

Any help appreciated.

Oops - I found LHR-JNB-MEL(via PER) - so could do it on ONE5.

But any way to do what is required on ONE4?

the above is a legitimate routing. You may enter asia twice as long as one is simply a transit from Europe to the SWP.

I thought that was only true for GLOB34 not ONE4?:

ONE4:

62N . 5. TRAVEL BETWEEN AUSTRALIA AND EUROPE ON A
63N . SINGLE FLIGHT NUMBER IS CONSIDERED TRAVEL
64N . THROUGH 3 CONTINENTS. SOUTHWEST PACIFIC-ASIA-
65N . EUROPE.

GLOB34:

85N . 8. BACKTRACKING BETWEEN REGIONS
86N . AS DEFINED UNDER APPLICATION
87N . IS NOT PERMITTED.
88N . .
89N . EXCEPTION -
90N . .
91N . ASIA MAY BE PASSED THROUGH
92N . TWICE. ONE OF THE
93N . DEPARTURE/ARRIVALS IN ASIA
94N . MUST BE A TRANSIT WITHOUT
95N . STOPOVER IN CONJUNCTION WITH
96N . TRAVEL BETWEEN SWP AND
97N . EUROPE

148N . - 2 PERMITTED IN NORTH AMERICA. 1 MUST
149N . BE A TRANSIT WITHOUT STOPOVER
150N . BETWEEN SOUTH AMERICA AND ANOTHER
151N . CONTINENT
152N . - 2 PERMITTED IN ASIA. 1 MUST BE A
153N . TRANSIT WITHOUT STOPOVER -OR- ON
154N . DIRECT SINGLE PLANE SERVICE BETWEEN

General rule: just listen to Rich.

I don't think the rule you quote above is relevant here, it simply "forces" the extra continent if one was attempting not to exclude Asia altogether but fly SWP-Europe-- not what's being attempted here.
