outwit my travel agent
My family is going rtw with Global Explorer. The planned itinerary is as follows:
YYZ-MIA-UIO-SCL-AKL...
at which point we wanted to go AKL-APW-NAN-AKL-BNE-JNB-LHR-VIE-LHR-YYZ...
My TA tells me however that we can't use PH (Polynesian Airlines?) and therefore must go AKL-NAN-APW-NAN-AKL-BNE, etc. effectively putting us over mileage to do anything in Europe. I feel I'm at the mercy of this TA because she is booking all the flights, some of which appear difficult to arrange when 5 M class seats are involved. If I go elsewhere, I may not be able to get the same flight schedule we have painstakingly crafted. On the other hand, I don't have confidence in her knowledgeability.
Open to suggestions.

You can fly direct from NAN to BNE most days of the week, and also from NAN to SYD then BNE. I believe that both of these will get you under the 35000 miles. Of course you'd miss going back to Auckland, but at least you can finish your itin.

76N 3. ENDORSEMENT BOX OF ORIGINAL AND REISSUED TICKET
77N MUST SHOW:
78N .
79N .
80N . VALID ONLY ON AA/OA/AY/AX/
81N . BA/CX/EI/FJ/GF/IB/LA/LP/PH/QF
I personally think it's pretty clear. Have her print the starfile or print it off http://www.hardlink.com/~markdu/OWFi...lExplorer.html and show her that it's allowed. If she still doesn't believe it, then have her call QF or BA and verify. And no, there is not BNE-JNB. You will need to go BNE-SYD-JNB.

I work with a knowledgable T/A in YYZ who knows all the fare rules of any RTW fare they issue. If you need their contact, let me know.
FYI the Maximum Permitted mileage on this Global Explorer ticket is 34,000 miles. NOT 35,000 miles.
Your current routing of : YYZ-MIA-UIO-SCL-AKL-APW-NAN-AKL-BNE-SYD-JNB-LHR-VIE-LHR-YYZ creates 34,775 miles. You've exceeded by 775 miles.
My suggestion: Do YYZ-MIA-UIO-SCL-AKL-APW-NAN-AKL-SYD-JNB-MAD-VIE-LHR-YYZ. This will make 33973 miles. Just making the max 34K miles.
For the SYD-BNE sidetrip. Take Virginblue or QF for as low as CAD138.00 roundtrip. And by routing via MAD, you're saving on miles instead of going via LHR. You'll be passing through LHR the second time round anyway.

I would LOVE a TA contact in YYZ who knows what he/she is doing where RTW is concerned. Current TA did not suggest what you did inasmuch as the only way out of Jberg was via LHR. Please forward contact information.
