Questions on oneworld award

Trying to put together an award using AA miles. A few questions:

1) What fare bucket are business and first class awards taken out of (i.e. can I find out availabilty on Galileo)

2) I'm only planning one stopover, in Bangkok...however, due to my add-on flight to Katmandu, it makes more sense for me to fly across the Pacific using CX and from BKK back to Texas using QF/AA. For mileage purposes, does this mean I will have only two segments, from AUS-BKK and then from BKK-AUS?

For AA (and I think CX, not sure about QF) a business award is booked in U and first is Z.

Regarding the mileage calculation, I believe it will include your stopover segments but not transit segments.

You could do a Cathay award for less miles unless you had a burning desire to use Qantas.
