No this has not happened.

I was just wondering. So I asked BA what would happen to me if I happen to have my tickets lost/stolen during my RTW (it last a year, and I hate the idea of having xx tickets in my bag during this long time).

BA just told me that...they are very nice and with a police declaration they could reissue me the tickets assuming I'm in a city with a BA desk. She also said that it would be better to have a copy of the tickets to help (what the h* ? everything is on the computer !), anyway as a security, I will scan everything and put it on a server online along w/ my personal documents scan.

I then asked about others OW partners and she said they are the only one to do this, for others this is simply lost forever and you will have to buy another bunch of tickets if you want to continue your trip.

Any experience with this ?

I will check for Visa, Amex and my travel insurances to see if there is anything related to these potential problems.

Always carry a photocopy of your tickets (pasport/ccards, etc.) seperate from the originals. This will make life much easier in acse of lost/stolen tickets, etc.

Yes of course. I myself add an extra layer by scanning my documents and putting them on a secure area on my website. This can be convenient as even if my copies are not available for some reasons, I can access it via the internet. (and internet is everywhere those days)

But losing documents does not cost as much as a RTW ticket...thus my question about lost tickets.

I have all my important documents and credit cards scanned and stored in my Yahoo brief case. Two years ago my wallet was lost in BKK and I walked to the nearest internet cafe picked up all my credit card numbers and informed the companies immediately. A print out of my green card allowed me return entry into US with no problem whatsoever. I strongly recommend to store all your tickets in the scanned format and Yahoo briefcase with free 30 MB storage and layered access control is ideal.

Reservation and ticketing are two completely separate things, esp. when you use RTWs, normal or any other open-dated or date change-allowed tickets.

I store the following items in my Yahoo briefcase
1. Passport and Long term visas (5 year Indian Visa)
2. Credit cards front and back
3. Drivers License
4. Green Card
5. Travelers checks
6. One cancelled check
7. Life and travel insurance details
8. Tickets and itinerary
This occupies about 5 MB
I mark it with extra password accessible only by me and my immediate family.
Any other suggestions are welcome

The yahoo briefcase is a good idea - but I wonder how many airlines will let you fly without a proper pasport?

If you lose your passport, print out a copy go to your nearest embassy and get a new passport showing the copy. Passport copies are not approved travel documents. Green card copy will allow you one entry but you need to apply for the real one. It takes a visit to INS and about six months.
