Circle the Pacific--Itin. Suggestions?
I am planning a trip for this summer. I have one month to play with and am leaving from New York in business class.
My current itin:
HKG
BKK
SGN (buy separate ticket)
DPS (must connect through BKK and HKG)
SYD
MEL
AKL
Home
Is there anything that I should watch for in booking this ticket? Are there any destinations that I should add or replace? I would appreciate any help that you can lend.
Regards,
JS

Does this fare still have only 4 free stops?
You might want to take a <24 hr non-stopover stop in YVR to get extra miles (if it's worth it to you - get 800 extra q-miles + various bonuses but it may force an overnight in HKG en route to BKK).
I'm not sure if the BKK-(HKG)-DPS back track is allowed. If not, you can route CX BKK-SIN and QF SIN-DPS.

The back track to HKG for DPS is nice (worth a lot more miles). You can do no-cost stopover in YVR enroute (you'll only get JFK-HKG mileage if you fly straight to HKG). If you fly in on CX 889 and take the following day (or same day) CX839 to HKG.
At the cost of hotel in YVR (can Priceline the Fairmont, it's the only airport area 4*), you get just above 800 q-miles, 800 bonus miles (assuming you are AA PLT/EXP), 200 CoS miles, 800 miles pro-rated on the domestic upgrades, and if CX renews it, 2,000 mile CXAPP bonus.

US fares in US$ F/C/Y are 7034/4325/2656
Canadian fares in C$ F/C/Y are 8819/5511/3128
These are all for west coast origination. There are adders for east coast and midwest originations. From YYZ the F/Y adder is C$975/575.
Note that these fare listings appear to be about 9 months. Check with the AA RTW desk at 1-800-247-3247 (not sure if this works number from Canada).
