Carribean pass during a RTW ?

I'm trying to set the itinerary for my RTW trip (will last a year). I'm done except concerning the North America part where I need more work (the fact that we can go SYD-LAX-JFK might be interesting).

At first I had something like: AKL-LAX-SFO-DFW-CUN-MIA-SJO-MIA-CDG. I would like to be able to go to SFO, MIA, CUN, SJO.

So a SYD-LAX-JFK-CUN-MIA-SJO-JFK-SFO-CDG could be an alternative. Anyway, I'm working on that.

MIA would be somewhat my hub if I manage (and am able) to find a caribbean pass (though SJU would be somewhat better probably).

Soo..here is the question. Do you know something about a carribean pass ?

It 'looks like' AA is offering a Carribean Explorer ...but I cannot find anything on AA site (a search on carribean brings 0 results, go figure)

Carribean info via American Eagle is here, but not a word about a pass.

Thanks for any tip you may have.

mwielsch,
LIAT - Leeward Islands Air Transport based in Antigua has a couple of types of passes that I remember as being reasonably priced.

Here's a page that lists some of the common Caribbean air passes:
http://www.caribbeanaviation.com/passes.htm

You could also purchase a visit north america pass. Details are at this link:

Thanks for that, but precisely, I'm asking this question because the Carribean Explorer of AA/American Eagle is mentioned in this web page but I could not find any information on it. :-)

About the North America pass, it might be indeed interesting, as I will be jumping to a one or more islands, spend some time there sailing and then taking flight back from another island. But I wanted to compare with this supposed 'carribean explorer'.

Also..as we're talking about passes.. I will probably take a South Pacific pass and if I take this North America pass...I'm curious about one rule:

"Only available to residents of the country of sale outside North America, when booked prior to departure at country of origin. This fare must be booked in conjunction with return travel to North America on specified airline carriers "

If I understand correctly it means that I cannot book this once I arrive in North America ? (that is 10-11 months after my departure from my country of origin). Seems weird. Is that really that 'strict' or can I'm come and anytime and say 'hey, I want to buy a South Pacific pass once I'm in Bali and a visit North America pass once I'm in Miami ?

I think that AA's Caribbean Explorer fare is restricted to residents of the US, Canada and Mexico. Green card is OK, but tourist visa wouldn't. However, check with AA reservations for information.

Your interpretation of the rule for the Visit xxxx Passes is correct: no spur-of-the moment impulsive purchasing allowed.
