Transfer from QF to other

Anyone have suggestions on transferring QF Gold across to another airline's programme of equivalent or superior status level? Which ones are open to suggestion, would this mean surrendering QF m'ship?

I asked about this for a colleague about a year ago who was moving from Aus to the US. Seems that you can't transfer status to another oneworld carrier - basically you need to earn the other carriers elite status while holding the other. You might be able to get a comp with a carrier outside the alliance but I would think that would be doubtful given that there is little competition in QF's home market.

I also asked about getting EXP with AA as a BA Gold (OW Emerald) member. The short answer was "not possible" although you do the Platinum mileage challenge with AA (mine started on Wednesday !!)

Forgot to mention that most of the ow carriers are pretty good at giving you the elite benefits when you have an existing elite level membership while building up status with another carrier in the alliance. I did this recently, using my AA EXP (Emerald) card for status benefits while accruing tier credits on my brand new QF account. Even got an upgrade on a CX flight!

I dont think QF gives the corresponding elite level benefits to OW(AA) members.
My sapphire OW husband was not able to waitlist until the bronze QFF window of 14-7 days on a recent international booking and then was not able to change dates within the 7 day window to secure an upgrade.

That benefit is specific to the QF program - not a general ow elite benefit.

I was referring to benefits granted based on ow status (e.g. lounge access). Two examples that I have personally taken advantage of - flying on cheapest MEL-HBA economy ticket, no status with QF but wanted to put the miles on my new QF account. Gained Qantas Club access by showing my AA EXP (emerald) card to the lounge attendant.

Flying with CX in J HKG-AKL. Used my AA EXP card to get access to the First Class lounge and was granted an upgrade to F cabin. Posted the miles to my QF account (said flight enabled me to reach Silver).
