Need some help on the GlobEx fare
I need some help from the experts.
I'm trying to plan a trip that involves Vietnam, and I cannot use CX flights out of Hong Kong. So the only other way I've found to get ther is to use the QF codeshare operated by VN (this is allowed). Is there another way?
One problem with this plan is that I want to do Asia first and then Australia later, but if I use the QF flight and connect in Australia, they won't let me go back, right?
One last question on the mileage on connecting flights. Do they count each segment separately, or do they use the origin-destination?
Thanks.

General rule should be: one flight number for a one-stop flight --> counts as one segment and miles are counted as origin-destination; two flight numbers --> counts as two separate segments.

Unfortunately yes, you cannot do the CX/VN codeshare. However, maybe you can fly to BKK and then buy a BKK-Vietnam sidetrip. The fares BKK-Vietnam are quite competitive (at least to SGN) as many airlines offer Fifth Freedom Rights as an ending from their European - Thailand flights. AF, LH offer great fares in addition to TG and VN of course.
Remember than the GlobalExplorer is a mileage based fare and you're only allowed up to 15 stopovers max.
Maybe you'd like to try Star Alliance instead for the route TG to SGN SQ to SIN?
