Lounge Access at LAX for AA Plat

I have read of much confusion re the access of AA Plat and other OW Sapphire Y class international passemgers. Was wondering if anyone could comment on the LAX experience? Am flying SAN-LAX-DUB on an AA ticket with EI as operator. Have AA Plat status. Can I safely assume I would be allowed access to a one world lounge at the B terminal? Any comments on which one would be best, assuming access were possible - BA/Quantas or Cathay? Also one other question (sorry) it seems if my PNR has 'club access' in it this could help. I booked pre Plat stage so how could I ensure I have this in my PNR. Thanks, from a first-year AA person.

If you only have AA Platinum status, you are not entitled to any AAdmirals Club within North America if you're only flying domestic unless you have an AAdmirals Club membership.

But as you are departing from Tom Bradley, it depends on whose lounge EI is using. If it's BA/QF or CX, I think you can get in. But if its a contracted lounge operated by another airline, then you may be refused unless you are holding a premium class ticket.

Once you hit Platinum, all existing reservations will be updated automatically with your new status.

Assuming that your SAN-LAX flight is on the same day as your LAX-DUB flight, you will have access to the Admirals Club on departure from SAN and on arrival at LAX. AA uses terminal 4 at LAX for flights to/from SAN. There's an Admirals Club at Terminal 4.

You will then need to walk about 3 minutes from Terminal 4 to the Tom Bradley International Terminal. The BA/QF lounge is at your disposal. I don't think the CX lounge would be open so early since their flights don't leave until late at night.

sgm,

On your International trip SAN-LAX-DUN , as an AA Platinum/OW Sapphire customer, under AA flights, regardless of class, you're entitled to all the OneWorld Lounges at all the airports, according to the rules, including the Admiral Clubs at SAN and LAX :

Preferred boarding and entrance to all of the oneworld airlines' Business Class and airport lounges when traveling internationally*, regardless of the class of service flown on that day

* Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean are not considered international destinations when travel originates in the United States, Mexico, Canada or the Caribbean

On your way back, if that might be the case, you'll also be entitled to use the Admiral Clubs and your proof of International Travel will be the stub.

and choose Platinum

Enjoy

PS - Edit to add:
AA employees will be able to easily check your status on their terminals. To be on the safe side, in case you want to visit other OW lounges, print your updated AA status from the web and ask nicely. Bear in mind that this print-out won't grant your way in, as per the rules, you're to show a valid One World Sapphire card. You may be lucky.
