Minor ticketing "errors" to my advantage on OWE?
I have got my OWE ticket and haven't noticed some of the small details until today.
The Oneworld Explorer only allows you to have a "stopover" in a city only once, but you can "transit" it as many times as your routing/segments permits.
It seems like that CX did not put an "X" beside "Hong Kong" on the ticket for my "2 transits" in Hong Kong.
Should be NYC X/HKG ABC HKG DEF X/HKG LON, but they ticketed it as NYC HKG ABC HKG DEF HKG LON.
Since CX is a Hong Kong based airline, does anyone suppose they might be trying to "promote" Hong Kong by doing this (tempting their pax to stay in HKG a few more times and spend more money to help the HKG economy)?
Also, they seem to have forgot the "X" on a couple of my other segments when they are clearly connections and not stopovers(will there be problems with the other airlines such as collecting taxes from me that one has to pay for stopovers even though I wont' be doing a stopover and only a transit?).
Another thing is that the only real "restriction" I saw printed on the ticket is "ONEWORLD EXPLORER SPECIAL CONDITIONS APPLY" under "endorsements" instead of the usual "VALID AA AY BA CX EI IB QF ...ETC." Will the other carriers actually take the time to pull up the fare rules and try to read it line by line if I have to make changes to my ticket?

The only stopover restrictions on OWE are a max of 2 in the continent of origin. Other than that, you can transit or stopover in cities to your hearts content (subject to segment and point of origin limitations).

Indeed. Although I am based in HK I buy all my DONE3 tickets in Europe for exactly this reason. On my current ticket I have 3 stopovers in HKG (CDG-HKG-DEL-HKG-TPE-HKG-SFO-...), and this is perfectly legitimate.

Assuming Asia was not your continent of origin you can stop as many times as you want in Asia subject to the number of segements. However, my guess, is that CX also charged you all associated taxes with these stops. The difference in price between an X or an O on your ticket when taxes are factored in can be quite high.
