Upgrades on a OWE

Hey

Can anyone tell me if I can upgrade from coach to business on the QF segments of my OWE using QFF points?

Cheers

You can upgrade a QF flight (QF number and operated by QF) using QF points or upgrade credits. The amount varies by distance (max is 50,000 or 5 upgrade credits for Sydney-London). For details see http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/...tUpgradeAwards

This I know to be true, but you can't use QF upgrades on a OWE, right? From the rules:
"AADVANTAGE UPGRADE AWARDS PERMITTED ON AA SECTORS USING AA AWARDS ONLY." I have always thought that if QF members could use their points/credits then the rules would make note. If I'm wrong, then I have a few things to regret...

Cheers.

Well, one may also interpret that statement to pertain only to AAdvantage upgrade awards, saying that you can only upgrade AA flights. Doesn't explicitly say that you can't use QF awards for QF sectors. Then again, it's hard to say what it's really saying. Really not the most clearly worded rule, IMO.

I have used QF upgrade credits to upgrade from D to F on a OWE business class fare. A QF member can use QF points or upgrade credits to upgrade any QF sector operated by QF (must book the QF flight number if available as a codeshare), providing there is availability.

OWE in Y (booked as M class) is considered discount ecconomy, so use the correct column in the tables for number of points or credits requried for upgrade to J.

You do have a few things to regret then. There is no issue upgrading QF sectors using upgrade credits or miles. Once the ticket has been issued, can just phone up QF and arrange the upgrade if available or add yourself to the waitlist.

NM and Dave,
A big thanks. There is no reason for me to whine over things that are in the past, but this is good to know for the future.

Cheers.
