2. i dont thk it is 'back-tracking', but maybe u can do
usa-europe-lhr-acc-lhr(x)-nbo-lus-jnb-cpt-jnb-hkg-.......
3. unless MNL is really a must go. DPS/sapporo offer more miles and perhaps better scenics
alternatively, in asia,
hkg-del____bom-hkg-mnl-hkg_____BKK-SYD.
where "____" means overland
this gives u more mile as bom-hkg is longer than bom-bkk

And rumors about maximum limits on the number of segments possible with machine-printed tickets notwithstanding, my TA (with Qantas) managed to get 24 segments through the computer. It sounded like the only challenge was cramming all the taxes into the maximum number of characters allowed in that field.

Thought I would post the fact that QF finally approved my revised itinerary. Interestingly, they would not allow two intercontinental dep / arr from Europe using the Ghana / Nigeria exemption instead insisting that I do USA-LHR(transit)- Accra - LHR - (Europe) - CPT overland NBO - Lusaka - Jo'burg - HKG ... So, I end up with 2 intercontinental dep / arr from Africa!!
