RTW Expert Agents - please get in touch

I want to buy a OW RTW first ticket. Starting in Canada (just to save money) - but I think this means a US agent could ticket it?

Please email me with a phone number if you understandthe complexities of these fares and can ticket me for a relatively simple trip!

I want to buy the ticket before any price rises.

Thanks

Julian, if you are in the US (since you mention a US issue), then call 1-800-247-3247 for AA or 1-877-428-2228 for BA. If you are in London, just contact the BA Holidays number.

At the risk of sounding cynical, I have never come across a travel agent who knows the ins and outs of RTW fares as well as some of the people on FT. Most agents seldom see one and probably never recommend them. Web-based booking systems can't cope with them.

I'd say it's one area in which it's far better to do it yourself and just find an agent who's prepared to ticket it at the best possible price.

Not only do I issue these tickets all the time I fly on them as well.

If you have any specific questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Also, any OWE can be issued by an agent in the USA or Canada. (No matter the origination).

I beg to differ. I've come to know about various RTW types almost since their inception way back in 1982! Do you know who started it... and I don't mean Pan Am's RTW service!

There are more than just the usual STAR and ONEWORLD RTW fares you know.

A good travel professional should be able to tell you all your options. Including where you can save the most on a ticket.

this topic reminds me of something I meant to ask, but always forget.. Is there a travel agency out there that ONLY does RTW fares?

Unfortunately NO. They always concentrate on the country where they are located and really best bet is to visit FT and read what FTers have to say.

Yes, for the most part: airtreks.com

I'm not affiliated w/ them, but ran across them in the course of researching RTWs...I subsequently inquired of other FTers re: whether they'd heard of airtreks.com (&/or the guy who started the company, who appears to have quite a bit of knowledge re: intricacies involving international travel) &/or used airtreks.com for RTW travel...several FTers not only heard of the company, but had themselves &/or had friends who used airtreks.com for RTW travel, & had overwhelmingly positive things to say. One went so far as to say that a friend of theirs swears by airtreks.com & uses them exclusively for their RTW travel.

The airtreks.com web site has a lot of very useful info. It also mentions a bit about how they do what they do, & why they're able to get the prices that they do, etc.

There are good agents out there. Don't be shy about "interviewing" them, either. If they don't spend the time to talk to you, they probably won't spend the time when they're booking the ticket.

Remember, this person is supposed to act as your "agent", not just a trained monkey.
