LA special
I don't remember signing up for the LA specials, so I think they signed me up when I bought an online ticket with them. Anyway, they are offering a JFK-SCL special this week for $399 and a MIA-LIM special next week for $299. The Miami isn't the greatest for a mileage run, but $400 to Santiago from New York is pretty decent.
Also, there is a different special, but I don't know exactly what is valid. The wording is "Buy your tickets on LanChile.com throughout August to travel from the United States any time in the next year and you will receive a 5% discount." It looks like you need to start travel in the US, but given that LA's translations can occasionally be suspect, it might intend to mean that you need to buy the ticket from the US. Don't have time at the moment to look into it more.

I got an email on the addy I gave when I bought a LP flight on the LA website. It is the 1st mail I have ever received from them. But if you go to the website, it does give some info. Look on the right hand side.
*important note*.... Don't know why, but I had my cookie set to Chile-English rather than US. They are offering different sales from the different locations. Use the worldwide sites option to flip between. Like on the Chile site, SCL-EZE for $99, and so on.
Looks like you can even do a one day turnaround for the mileage running addicts. Leave the 18th, return the 19th, enjoy a day in SCL. Too bad I live in LA and not NYC, but it gives me a reason to check it now and then, as it seems that it will change each week.

la is a one world partner, you should get q mi,s on aa if you use aa #. i've had the mi,s posted from the 2 flights i've taken on them. however, there may be fine print to be checked on the offer. like quantas giving 70% mi's on discounted coach versus 100% on aa code share[ at much greater cost ] in my limited experience.
