AA refund as part of BA flight change?

In April there were no mileage seats on BA from ORD to LHR. The BA agent was confident that seats would not open up for a July flight, so we booked BA from JFK to LHR and bought 3 roundtrip tickets on AA from ORD to JFK. Booked AA so our flights would be protected if there was a problem on the first leg. A couple of days ago three first class frequent flyer tickets became available for the same dates from ORD, so I grabbed them and happily payed the $55 per ticket change fees. Now I'm stuck with three AA tickets from ORD to JFK. Is there anyway I can get a credit, without the $200 per ticket penalty, on the grounds that it was a change to a single itinerary on oneworld?

No, not on those grounds. If there is a schedule change, weather event, etc. then maybe.

The only way I can see AA giving a refund is if there's been a major schedule change since booking. If so, you could just get refunded on the grounds of the change.

No, sorry.

While it's a single itinerary in your eyes, they're completely separate as far as AA/BA are concerned.

You would have needed both flights to have been on the same ticket for it all to be covered, otherwise the rules for each reservation apply separately.
