rtw owe africa help

going on cruise capetown-lisbon this year. going to australia next year. want to get owe in arn either f or j. will get dfw-arn open jaw lisbon-mad-dfw not on rtw fare. problem need about 25k mis for wife to mak her plt this yr. dfw-arn etc will be 10k or so. how do we get arn-cpt by going around in africa on ow? i believe that if we travel w/ only necessary connections in europe that we won't use any europe segments. will scheme on next year later. any ideas on getting 3-4k more mis than arn-cpt. thanks .....want to use the 4 continents next yr to get a leg up on the exp & plt bogies.

I think you need to clarify this a little. You want to get a RTW to go from ARN to CPT with some side trips for miles, then you are going to take a ship back to Europe and fly from there back to the US. Right? But then what? As far as I understand the rules you will have to continue your RTW from South Africa and you can not backtrack to Europe but you will have to fly on to Asia or Australia. It's not clear to me exactly what the whole plan is.

As for getting extra miles ARN-LHR-CPT, ARN-LHR-MCT-LHR-CPT should get you about 7,200 miles extra, and should be a valid routing on a OWE at the cost of 2 additional European segments.

thanks hagbard. original plan was to go to australia in oct but cruise came up & is not being repeated in spring. so thought that going south might allow f or j rides for i more continent. might jump ship in canaries & come back to us. have to find out if canaries are africa or if africa is only east of europe. no open jaw on owe? i'm about to think i should go ahead & talk w/ aa rate desk. if i sprung for f , adding africa would be about $800 whuch looked like a good deal..... perhaps this plan is no good. if europe to africa is west rather than north & south then it work for me...... i want to start in arn, go to cpt[no europe segments- save those for next yr], go back to europe in transit to usa ? [possibly use us segments to get bogie] then start 02 trip from us going west.
