Possible RTW Route

Hi Folks

I am hoping to do a RTW to get my EXP with AA renewed.

As the fares out of Germany are so much cheaper than from London I wondered if I could do the following itinerary?

MUNICH-LHR
LHR-HKG
HKG-NRT
NRT-HNL
HNL-LAX
LAX-LHR

As I am always doing business in Munich, I can use the final LHR-MUC coupon at a later date.

I would be grateful to hear from anyone with any ideas on this

Good Luck
James

everything is fine, except for HNL.
i am not aware of any oneworld flight which brings you from HKG to HNL.

(you might have to add one continent and detour via SYD, or buy a one-way from NRT to HNL)

right, NRT-HNL is an AA-codeshare operated by JL, and cannot be used with an oneworld Explorer fare...

Hi Folks,

Thanks for the input.

Can I do HKG-HNL or am I just going to have to miss Hawaii out of my trip?

Thanks in advance &

Good Luck

Not unless you go via SYD which will cost you an extra continent in Fare.

JAL codeshares cannot be used with OW RTWs. Which means either route via Australia or skip HNL. (try a side award trip from LAX/SJC/SFO using the miles - as EXP or even PLAT if you choose well you should be OK).

Also, note that your RTW route is not optimal for common parameters except to suit some of your unpublished constraints/parameters (miles, q-points, q-miles, etc.). Is that by design? If you do care to optimize, you can add more segments in Asia, North America and even Europe. Gets you that free Hawaii in Biz/F

Yes; the truth is I do not want to spend too much time away. I will be in Munich for business 4 days before I start the main portion of my RTW trip. As you know the RTW trips have to last at least 10 days and I am trying to get it close to that.

The only essential parts of my trip are HKG and LAX; HNL would be useful but not essential.

Thanks once again to all on this board, you are a great asset.

Good Luck

If you want to add a short vacation to your itinerary to fill out the 10-day minimum stay requirement, why not do a HKG-DPS-HKG segment and spend a day or two in Bali. If you book a hotel in the vicinity of DPS (say in Nusa Dua, Sanur, or Jimbaran Bay) you could get from the plane to the beach in under an hour.

If you intend doing regular RTW trips it would pay you to start out of Bangkok
Buy a oneway ticket to Bangkok and book a RTW with Rani at Chawla Travel The Baht is low against other currencies so it is cheaper out of there even after the one way from LHR Use the last sector back to Bangkok to start your next trip Chawla are also the biggest Lufthansa agent in Asia and have the best Lufthansa fares anywhere if Munich is your bag With CX doing its work to rule / possible strike thing OW is not the way to go through HK at present so beware

Hi Noctilux
I note that you are going to Munich to start your oneworld RTW. I suggest go to Stockholm first and originate your RTW from Stockholm.Go Stockholm-MUNICH, then whatever you decide Three continents biz class is 31000 swedish kroners and 4 continent which allows you to travel LAX-HNL-SYD-etc is 34000 SK (2200 )I am doing this next week.
