OneWorld RTW or BA & QF
I'm planning a RTW in June, half business / half pleasure. I could put the itenerary together just using BA & QF. Is there an advantage to using an OW RTW ticket given the following path. Or is there a BA/QF RTW fare available that follows this itenerary?
ZRH-LHR-NRT (BA)
NRT-Cairns AUS (QF)
Cairns-Brisbane-AUK (QF)
AUK-Buenos Aires (QF)
and one of the following closing routes...
- Buenos Aires-London (LHR or LGW- don't know) - LHR-ZRH (on BA)
or
- Buenos Aires-Madrid-ZRH (on Iberia)
All travel is in Business Class
The other option is to come back via the USA, which would be easy with BA, but I'd rather avoid the travel crunch in the US during the 4th of July if possible.
Thanks, Jenn

I am only familiar with the Continent based RTW fare on 1W. If you use one of those fares, when you come through the US, you will be charged a price for 5 continents (EUR/Asia/SWP/SA/NA) rather than 4 if you skip the US connection.
As for IB vs BA. I have heard that BAs seats are more comfortable than IBs inter-continental seats. I have no personal experience on IB long-haul.

As another option you could look at the old Global Explorer which essentially has the same airlines as the original group of oneworld carriers. It is mileage based however and I don't think you can purchase extra miles. Price used to be in between a 3 and 4 continent OWE.
