Any OW Promos this Year?
Last year there was the Visit the Continents promo - has anyone heard of a similar promo this year where US BA/EC members are eligible? Thanks!

Promotions are used to generate more traffic during slow periods. This past year has been a particularly busy one for most carriers, and their passenger loads [and load factors] have ramained very high. At the same time, these carriers have been reducing capacity to make more efficient use of their fleets. For example, BA is in the midst ofcutting the number of seats on most of its intercontinental fleet by almost 25% as they introduce their new 4-cabin seating. Cheap economy is almost cut in half, with the introduction of the World Traveller Plus cabin. And while First remains the same, Club World has also been reduced in seating as beds are introduced. This in itself is an unheard of reduction for the industry.
So whatthis all means is the oneworld carriers no longer have to fight the competition as hard to attract customers to fill their planes. But if this "recession" does continue, we might see something in the traditionally slower fall/early winter period.

Shareholder, I was on BA LHR-SFO yesterday (Mar 23, 2001) and Club was more than half empty. I am not sure that the flts are all so full anymore. In many parts of the world, the local newspapers were reporting 20-30% discounts to corporate travellers on J/F (discounts that were NOT offered just a few months ago).

I saw a oneworld brochure in the CX lounge at SIN which appeared to be offering double miles to members of any oneworld program who was also resident in Singapore. The information was extremely vague and had a lot of carve-outs, but appeared interesting.

here's the details of the double Asia Miles promotion for Singapore residents...
Asia Miles members who live in Singapore can earn Double Asia Miles
I think there was a typo in the original news on www.asiamiles.com ...it should last until March 31 and not March 1...
and, I think it's for Asia Miles members only, on any oneworld flights...not to members of any oneworld programs...

tedhl,
Your comment about the Asia miles program relates to my confusion. The brochure I saw appeared to be a generic oneworld type offering. It listed the logos of all the oneworld members, but not some of the Asia miles participants that are not in oneworld. Moreover, it made reference to each program having slightly different terms relating to the offer.
This would seem to explain the Asia miles promotion you mention, but also seems to imply that a member of AA's or BA's program, for example, could also get double miles, simply by having a SIN address. I don't recall anything on AA's website about this, but maybe they did a targeted mailing to SIN residents already in their database.
