So, some of us over in the Star Alliance forum thought about getting a lounge database together...so we could figure out what lounges we could use where.

Well, pretty quickly we figured it would be best to include any and all lounges.

The project has just started so I invite any and all of you into this 'open' project to list ALL lounges around the world.

Please visit and list lounges you know...so we can all benefit in our future travels.

There's got to be a better way to find out about the lounges than through this method. I'm sure there is an industry database somewhere. Alternatively, you could call the airport authority in each country or region and they would be happy to brag about their airports and the lounges.

I must have visited hundreds of lounges around the world over the last few years and I couldn't begin to try to recall them all now. For me and for other flyers, the best thing to do (if we are particularly concerned) is to go to the airline website and check before each flight.

The problem we are trying to overcome is Alliance lounges.

Many of us end up in a new destination where we know that are a handful of different lounges to use. BUT, which one is the best, which one has showers, which has food, which is even open? This is what we are trying to solve.

we already know what these lounges are, and where they are located, and who is allowed to access them. these are well documented in each airlines' web-site

i suggest perhaps first consolidating this into one single source (spreadsheet?). i think we can even ask oneworld/*A to provide this list/table (as it would also benefit them, or they already have such information)......
.....then we can call upon our FT'er here to 'own' their airport and write commentaries on each. (i am happy to contribute my airports)

but this is a BIG project, much bigger than the RTW project, i have to admit.

I would (as others) love to agree with you...but finding lounge lists for some airlines is near impossible!?

I am a HEAVY *A traveller at their Gold level. I pride myself on my knowledge of which lounges I can use where.

Today, by looking at the Project underway...I learned that I can use and SQ lounge in SIN as opposed to the one they TELL me to use (a third party lounge). That is the kinda stuff (among other things) that we are compiling.

Maybe OneWorld'ers don't need this info? We just figured we'd catalogue all lounges...thinking that people would want to know where to get free booze, computer access, showers...which lounges are great and which ones suck.

Why don't you take a look at the database so far? In only 30 hours over 80 lounges have been added...some with great details.

BUT, if you don't need or want such a resource...then don't worry about it.

Actually, hillrider, the LHR Flagship Lounge for AA has either one or two showers, I forget. But they do have one

It would be nice to have Dorian's chart on this. I think info provided by airlines is not really up to date quite often. Amenities such as PCs and PC accessibility are also not mentioned. So I would appreciate if such info is also gathered. But I also understand that it would be a daunting task to put together with so many lounges the world over.

y...i thk OW is simpler in this structure, except for the fact the complication of AA/AC for domestic flights.

and *A is further complicated by SQ's snobishness...we wish we got SQ, sigh

too bad i haven't travelled too much on *A recently since i dropped by UA status. but if u need contributions on OW lounge after this project, i am glad to do so (i mistaken thot this was for OW, apologies)
