LanChile any good?

After searching past boards, I can't find many people's opinions of LanChile. I am flying to Santiago in Nov, and trying to make my mind up between a direct flight (LanChile) or a multi-connection flight (Delta) with more miles. I know it is almost blasphemous on this site to not take the more miles - but the virtues of a direct flight can be discussed in another thread. The reputation of that flight would push it one way or another, I am sure. (Some of us would take a bus before flying America West again)

Also - does anyone know any present promotions of either airline for this flight? I think the LanChile ones I know about end in Sept...good timing

Thanks -

In March our return business class AA flight from Santiago to Miami was canceled and we were put on Lan Chile. Their Business Class was better than AA. Sorry but I don't know about Coach.

I agree - LanChile's business class is MUCH better than American's, at least as far as the seats are concerned. I hear that the same is true of economy seats. However, LanChile's food is tasteless mush and the cabin staff seem unprepared for anything except serving these awful meals. We took off from JFK with the space in front of several passengers' seats full of excess carry-on baggage, seat backs in the reclining position, etc. without a word from the fa's. They also don't distribute amenity kits -- you have to ask for them during the flight. It's worth it, though, as the kits are really super!

I had a great flight from Santiago to Lima to LAX in 1st class on Lan Chile. I loved the relaxed attitude of the FA's. I napped with my seat fully reclined all the way to the gate! Oh how I wish the FA's in the U.S. were allowed to be so cool about things.

I agree with the comments above - I've only ever flown them in First, but don't expect your miles to be posted.

i just flew them this wknd in coach round trip from eze. one plane was a new 767, the other a slightly older 737. i though the food differed from most american carriers in the fact that it was FRESH!!! for a coach meal on a two hour flight, it was better than my meal on the 10 1/2 eze-jfk flight operated by my airline of choice, no less.

I did not have a lifejacket under my seat on a flight from the Falkland Islands (MPN) to Punta Arenas, so the attendant got me one from 13C. Guess where I got sat when the plane was reboarded. Otherwise fine.

I just flew coach class in June and had no problem. The plane was a 767 and I was able to sleep all the way to Santiago from LAX and Lima. I was able to do the same on the way back. The service was good but nothing special. I would fly LANCHILE again. I really like Chile and suggest that all go to visit.

Top notch on Biz and First seats. Biz seat on their 3 cabin aircraft (don't know if it is the same on their 2 cabin) is better than DL Biz Elite and especially AA. Service was OK....wine was great!!!! The First seat is 180 degree recline but not a bed like BA, etc....just a great recliner. On our flight, we were the only First customers and the male FA really took care of us. Again, great wine.

My experience is that not on single Lan Chile flight has posted into my QF/AA/BA accounts.

QF & AA have added them manually.

I'm doing the usual battle with BA!

Of my four LanChile flights, three posted to AAdvantage within a few days; the fourth never appeared, even though my AAdvantage number was printed on the boarding pass (together with OneWorld status)

My most memorable view out of a plane EVER was an VERY early AM flight from LIM to SCL on Lan Chile. Had a window seat on left side of plane and saw the sun rise over the Andes as we were descending. Incredible!
