Anyone for a bargain RTW ExecPlat run?
It seems to me that there haven't been any RTW mileage runs for a while since the "Continents" event a good 5 months back. So, why not create one? I was reading another thread in this forum and Chiangi gave me a great idea. Surely many travellers have dreamed about getting that magical EXP status (or equivalent in another program) but it always seems so far away.
100,000 seems like a lot of flying, so why not take advantage of the strong US$ and GBP and achieve that status for a bargain price in about a week?
Looks like EXP can be achieved on AONEW5 ($4500) and AONEW6 ($5000). Maybe it can be even done in biz class. The fares for biz are $3500 and $4000 respectively.
Does anyone feel like becoming an EXP?

It can certainly be done with a biz or 1st owe 5-cont. I pared many miles off mine, and it still came to about 80K. Even in biz, that's over 100K. I will write the routing, but in interest in bandwidth and the uninterested, I will keep it sort of cryptic. It also includes the connections.

*Finally* approved by AA for 1449000huf, about 200 dollars in taxes. I know how much it is in $$$, but I don't like to think about it.

Darren:
It would be interesting to know that fare in US$ as I have an old price and was planning on doing a run too.
Thanks in advance.

$4900-something and a few pennies.
Ouch. I think I am going to go cry now...
I am spreading it over a bit more than 2 months, and some of the flights are only on certain days. If you were to do a pure milage run, I think it would be possible in about 2 weeks, without killing yourself or another pax along the way. Maybe 10 days, if you are willing to take that risk. I don't remember exactly the amount of airtime. I personally had a 3 month limit, and have a few obligations in Europe. So I think I made it 9 weeks or so.

I'm planning on doing my run in mid-2001 but will it really take that long? It could probably be done in about 5 days but the mileage might be too short. Would the following run meet the requirements for mileage? Probably not. SYD-HKG-JFK-BUE-JFK-LON-SYD? Can anyone suggest some good add-ons to this?

37K. I use http://www.chicago.com/airliners/gc.html to see the milage. It comes within 1% or so in either direction.
