RTW Question

Hi all,

Although it doesn't involve getting record numbers of miles off of one booking (hi darren!) but...

Australian RTW's (both OW and *A) are most expensive between the 9th and 23rd of December. I wanted to go on one starting 15th November ending 7th December and another starting 9th December ending sometime later.

Is there anything against the rules (which I know already very well) that would stop me going PER->ASIA->EUR->US->NZ then start another one NZ->Home->LHR->US->NZ and then finish off the first

I'm looking at doing this one OWE4's but I assume I could definitely do this on a OWE and a *A StarLite RTW.

I only ask because I know back-to-back can be forbidden in return trips.

Thanks!

It most likely won't be considered back to back ticketing. By the time you reach NZ with your first set of tickets, you probably will be spending more days than the minimum stay requirements so you should be okay.
Besides, no agent would bother doing a tedious task of checking back-to-backs on a round the world itinerary.

BTW, do you know any New Zealand travel agent that's good in round the world fares? Particularly, I'm looking for an agent that handles Air NZ + TG RTW fares ex-AKL. Thanks.

As far as I know there aren't any problems doing that. I have done that multiple times just due to the way my trip worked out. So long as I satisfy the minimum stay and stopovers, there were no problems.

Thanks to both of you.

silver, I am currently using travel.co.nz to help me look fares up - I've always liked how travel.com.au (.co.nz) have the rules so easy to jump to (unlike some of the American sites who tend to want to simplify them all). I didn't notice a way to look up J class fares though, which is a bit strange. Perhaps ask koruflyer?

I have a feeling this isn't possible but can I go PER->AKL->PER->LON->...etc.? If so, would it make any difference if I were to go PER->AKL straight away and jump to the 2nd RTW then (ie AKL->ASIA->...->AKL) - I wouldn't have satisfied the minimum stay of the first when starting the second, but would eventually.

All of this is because I need to be back on Perth on the 8th but back in England on the 9th and don't want to pay the high season Australian fares that start on the 9th.

I could recommend travelonline.co.nz who are a very helpful mob, especially Paul ([email protected]) who has done a lot for me during my travels including the latest RTW "5 continents" bash. I could also recommend www.usitbeyond.co.nz. To the best of my knowledge neither offers online pricing for RTW but an email will guarantee a prompt reply. Hope this helps a bit. BTW, www.travel.co.nz seems to be a tiny little bit more expensive than travelonline.co.nz even on their direct internet fares.
