Paul: Oh well....I was hoping I could fly CX all the way.
Mike: As long as you stay less than 24 hours, it is legal. Theoretically you could have a <24 hour stop between every seg. As long as the flight times work out, you should be OK to demand those flights. If that doesn't work, make the routing resv you want, leave the date open, call the carrier you want and make a resv for the SYD - HKG only. Hang up, call and make a resv for the HKG - LAX seg only. There should be no prolem that way. You aren't breaking any fare rules by doing that.

FYI I called American last weekend and yesterday to double check on those rule changes. You can now go NA - Asia - SWP - EUR (via HKG). As long as it is a connection, you can enter Asia a second time but only as a connection. I forgot to ask about NA - Eur - Afr - Eur (xfer) - Asia. I really hope that is now allowed.
I was also told that you can now only have 2 stopovers in the cont. of origin. One at either the arrival or departure gateway along with one other in another city.

I have a question then:
I have a RTW 4 cont ticket:
Already taken -
HKG-LHR-(other inter-european trips)-US
To be taken -
US-SYD-(multiple Australian domestic trips)-HKG.
Now, for the trips to be taken, can I do:
US-HKG(no stop)-SYD-(domestic Australian flights)-HKG?
I want to fly CX from US-HKG-SYD instead of QF on US-SYD. More miles and better service! Can I do that? I suppose I have to have the ticket re-issued?
Btw, if you are traveling on the same route but on a different 1w airlines, you DON'T need to re-issue the ticket!
