Have you checked the Hilton website? They sometimes have weekend or saver rates at various of their European properties, plus you can earn miles and Hilton points for your stay. There are plenty of no-frill hotels in each of these cities, but don't know if you're interested in that.

One way for London is to check out the airport hotels weekend rates. These are often pretty cheap and you can get to downtown on the underground for a few pounds.

The AMS airport has a hotel on the 2nd level (near the airline lounges). It is with in the gate area, so you never need to even go through passport control. I once used it for a sauna/shower on a long layover. I asked about the rates, and it was around $50 a night...something very inexpensive. I did not check out the rooms as I was only in AMS for 5 hours.

Just returned from London where a room at the Intercontinental was 99 pounds. Found it at their web site one week before I left. GREAT RATE and great hotel. Take a look at www.interconti.com
