New Mailing from AA

I just got a new mailing from AA - which contained my quarterly milage review - it also contained unintelligible (at least to me) information which seemed to suggest that one could redeem AA miles for oneworld awards for less than they would cost if simply redeeming for AA awards. did I get this wrong?? Does anyone know what I am talking about??

EMD,

The new oneworld awards MAY be cheaper than the AA awards, but I wouldn't count on it. You need to determine where you are going, find the number of actual miles on that route, and then use the chart to determine the number of miles you need for the trip. AA still has their AA/BA awards to Europe which ARE cheaper than the straight AA awards to Europe. Those probably won't last that much longer.

The biggest problem is the fact that you have to use 3 (three) oneworld members. There is no way you can use the lowest milage award (fly 0-1,500 miles on 3 oneworld carriers -- goodluck!)

But does BA has the right to load passengers from JFK-YYZ?

Wait....I know the YUL-LGAorJFK takes almost 700 miles, if so, then the total of that three flights will be more than 1500.

Let's figure it out

Chatter -- mileage calculation for the awards is point to point. So in the example you would need to know if YYZ is just a transfer or a stopover. If it is a transfer then the direct mileage LGA/JFK - YUL would be used.
