AONEx queries

Hi,

A couple of quick questions:

1. Now that ex-CAI has gone, is ex-TYO the cheapest starting point now?
2. Is there any way to actually pick the flights you want on the oneworld website or do you have to go with what you are given?

It seems the booing tool used to be a lot more flexible.

Thanks!

As far as I know, that's pretty good. JNB and northern Europe are also reasonable.

After the tool has assigned you flights the first time, you can use the "Change Flight" button next to each individual flight to look at other options.

Doesn't that depend, in part, on the number of continents?

If considering starting in Africa, I believe MPM is cheaper than JNB

Edited to add:
For example (from ExpertFlyer), the AONE4 base fare from MPM is ~USD2500 cheaper than ex-JNB
However, ex-MPM the first flight can only be MPM-DOH and that does not have 1st class
