Which membership? MH or QF?
Hi all I'd appreciate your help. New to this.
I've got an upcoming J class trip with MH so I joined Enrich to earn the points. I'm a QF FF and that is who I have the most points with. Now this is where I get confused. As both airlines are One World members which membership am I best to link to my booking? I've done some quick research but can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

What route? What fare class? What is your current status.
The Qantas earn for MH flights Aus/NZ, Malaysia is particularly poor with Business and First only crediting as Flexible Economy, so SYD-KUL in J would earn 4000 pts and 30 SCs (1/4 of what QF SYD-SIN in J would earn)
The earn is much better on non-'competing' routes. eg within Asia
MH you would earn 160-200% (depending on exact class) of ~4100 miles.
So say 13000-16000 Enrich miles for a return.
At best that would give you a Malaysian domestic flight in Y, or a shorthaul Y-J upgrade.. so the question is whether that would be useful or likely to get orphaned at some point.

I see from another post you might be flying ADL-KUL-BKK
(In which case things aren't quite as dire for QF earn as the ADL table is slightly more generous than SYD/MEL).
So
ADL-KUL - 3500pts 50 SCs
KUL-BKK - 825pts 40 SCs
Unless you are likely to do a lot of flying on MH in the future, or have credit cards that can go to Enrich, I would probably be crediting to QF
Qantas has a useful calculator:

Though you also need to read how the Partner fares align

One flight is not a good basis of joining a ffp.
What are your objectives from a ffp?
Both QF & MH do not rank high on the OW frequent flyer program ladder.
Having multiple ffp’s with low balances is never a good idea. You may never get enough ff miles/points to be of use before they expire. FFP’s are for the medium to long term. For example 50% earning a ffp, that you will use, is far better than 75% is a ffp that you will not use because you never get enough miles/points to use, before they expire.
Be mindful of expiry http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...-t-expire.html
