Boarding Passes Standard?

Dont really know where to put this post, but I guess based on my trip from last June I will start from here...

Is there a real International Standard (IATA?) for managing Boarding Passes??? I have kept almost all my boarding passes for the last 15 years or so and I notice that in some countries / airlines they kept the small part of the boarding pass and give you the biggest part to board the plane.

I flew last year on Malaysia Airlines from Kuala Lumpur to Bintulu and they kept the small portion, (Other 4 segments small portion provided)

This month I was in China and Tianjin Airlines (Not a Member of One World) also did the same thing, and back in 2013-14 I was living in India and using Jet Airways and it was also the same protocol big portion of the boarding pass for passengers.

Any other airline have this practice? any reason behind or just crazy security protocols from government agencies on those areas of the world?

Note: We should have a open forum for general travel information (I could not find it).

S7 in DME also keeps the small portion, but keeps the big portion almost everywhere else. In DME they leave the "large" part for you in case they have to offload the whole plane and "reboard",it makes it easier for them,as they can just scan the barcode (which is located on the "large part") again when reboarding, rather than keying in the B/N.

CX in HKG and BA in LHR normally don't detach the BP at all.

I hate it when they detach the pass "just because". There is no reason to do so, unless the system is down.
