DONE4 RTW Flight Advice, please

Just about to pull the trigger on this DONE4 RTW. I'm new to OW.

Do any of you more experience hands have any suggestions on better flight options or something I should consider.

Planning on collecting AA miles for all this and launching a Plat or better bid for 2016 after years with UA.

Looks OK. Only 14 of the 16 allowable. Want to use the other 2 for somewhere else in Asia or USA?
Mileage monkey NRT-DEL-HKG-MLE-HKG-SYD-DOH-IST-LHR-LAX-JFK-MIA-MEX-LAX-NRT Ignore errors as MM routes are not up to date.

May get a little more miles if SYD-LHR-IST-LHR, subject to D class being available.

For max AA earning use AA codeshares if available. You can change to AA codeshares from the prime airline flight number after ticketing. This should be at no cost. Is now hard to find AA codeshares. Are not in the OW downloadable timetable. Were in the AA pdf timetable, but that is now not published. Was old style/technology but was simple to look for an AA codeshare on a particular route.

If you change the dates a little you can attend http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/commu...l#post25177718
Date changes are free provided D class available. Can be done after ticketing.

Already has the maximum 4 flights in Asia. There is scope to add flights in Europe, Southwest Pacific and USA.

I was debating whether to add additional segment or two in Australia, but the flights are cheap and I thought it may be useful to save those segments for a rainy day if we want to change our routing while underway.

As for more miles, that's a good point, I'm traveling with wife and kids and they aren't so keen on the extra flight time. We're already clocking a ton of miles, especially if you include the pre-positioning flight.

Good catch! I hadn't realized how much difference it makes to fly under an AA flight number. For others' reference, here's the comparison.

Fare Base Class Bonus EQM multiplier
American A, P, D, I 100% 50% 2.00
Cathay C, D, I, J 100% 25% 1.50
Qatar C, D, I, J 100% 25% 1.50
British C, D, I, J 100% 25% 1.50
Japan C, D, J, X 100% 25% 1.50

Not seeing code shares for the following flights on Expert Flyer - please let me know if someone knows differently:

JL - NRT-DEL
CX - HKG-MLE
CX - MLE-HKG
CX - HKG-SYD
QR - SYD-DOH
QR - DOH-IST

Thanks for the tip. Hard to track down all the possible events we can attend and good to have this on the radar! Would be fun if I can work it out.

Just spoke with the AA RTW desk. Representative told me that I could not switch to AA code share for flights that were not connecting out of or into U.S.. So in this case, an AA code share from DEL to HKG can't be used, I need to book on the operating airline.

Does that sound accurate?
