My wife and I are going to include a stopover in either Tokyo or Doha on our way back to DFW from SE Asia in November.

Does anyone have any advice as to which location to choose.

We have been to Tokyo previously but never the Middle East.

We will be flying business class.

We would possibly like to try out Qatar's A380 service from BKK to DOH.

Planning on staying 3 days on the stopover.

We would enjoy 3 days in Tokyo (presumably) over 3 in Doha, would trying out the A380 be worth going to Doha for 3 days?

Also considering HKG as well but we are flying to SE Asia on CX with a short layover and stopping in Hong Kong is more pricey than the other two options.

Are there any other OW routings that would be good options for us?

Does OP realise TYO is in Asia continent and DOH is in European continent ?
Returning from SE to DFW via DOH(Europe/ME continent) seems to be a strange routing.

If OP's routing is
DFW-Asia-DOH-Europe-DFW,
OP can visit other Euroepan cities other than DOH.
If routing is
DFW-Europe-BKK-DOH-....-DFW,
it is not permitted.

I guess I should have clarified a little more. This will not be an award ticket. The OW parameter is just so that we can earn AA miles. Which I suppose brings Etihad in as well.

The idea is that there are no direct DFW-BKK so our options are either:

BKK-TYO-DFW
BKK-HKG-DFW
BKK-DOH-DFW
BKK-AUH-DFW

These routings allow for a stopover and then a direct flight back to DFW.

While I stated we would enjoy Tokyo, I am not saying we wouldn't enjoy the Middle East but we have just not been there. We would probably enjoy the ME as well, but have the uncertainty of never visiting.

I am not as familiar with earning AA miles on EY so wasn't sure if that would be a good option either.

I know ME is a bit further than connecting in Asia but that's not as big of a concern as getting the right equipment, city for stopover, and earning AA miles to us. As for connecting in Europe, we have spent plenty of time in Europe so not really looking to connect there and seems to be a bit more pricey.

Any other routings that would make since?

Do y'all enjoy DOH or AUH?

What season of the year are you looking at?

DOH and AUH are temperate and lovely over the winter (I enjoyed perfect weather there last week), but much of the year they are pretty stifling hot....

Personally I've never regretted stopping in HKG, whether for a day or a week....

Tokyo by a considerable margin. Or maybe better put, head up into nagano/gunma and enjoy the wonderful colours of autumn

You may also consider:

Sri Lankan Airline with stopover in Colombo
Cathay Pacific with stopover in Hong Kong
Royal Jordanian with stopover in Amman

if you wish to explore the Middle East I would much prefer Amman over Doha. Doha is fine for half a day. From Amman you can visit Petra or Jerash. You can even go to Jerusalem but factor in time to cross the border.
