The desktop timetable app is no more?

Every time I decide I might like to go somewhere new, I typically have fired up the OneWorld desktop timetable application. Alas the schedules have not been updated (or updatable) for about two months now.

So off to the oneworld pages I go. There is a new application "Flight Map" and the old one has disappeared. Innovata Map and Europa Technologies copyright notices appear at the bottom of the map screen when you finally get it installed.

While there are good and bad points about the new application (the map itself being a bit of both), it appears somewhat less thorough in the determination of flight availability (note: routes not seats).

I have emailed innovata and will comment about their reply (if and) when I receive one. In the meanwhile, I would appreciate hearing other people's impressions.

Happy wandering

There is a new one. Go to oneworld.com to download. Don't forget to remove the old version from your PC.

It is more robust and is map based, quite similar to their RTW booking and RTW Interactive mapping tools if you've used them. You have the option to use it online or download the data files which I do as I often use it and the previous version to plan RTW and CirPac trips whilst traveling.

It is not as quick and convenient as the old one, but that may be due to learning curve issues on my part. I just downloaded it last week and have only used it briefly once.

Oops, I guess I should have read your full post before posting basically repeating what you had already said. I'll leave my comments for anyone who may benefit.

Same here. I am sad that Innovata and Oneworld have apparently discontinued the former app. I find the new one slow to launch and I really don't need the map. I sure wish OW would spend more time fixing the online booking tool bugs and less on these apps.

The new application misses "a lot" of flights...
For example, no routes from
PER to MLE (two connections including at least one code share)
BNE to NOU (QF code share on Air Calin)
PER-CMB (only MH no UL code share via KUL or SIN)

And you are correct there is a learning curve. Especially when you are text
rather than graphically oriented. And the allow double connection check box is "misleading".

^ Yes, what you said! Do they spend any? (that's rhetorical)

I prefer the former version.
They probably claim it as an "enhancement"

Why did they even need to do this? It sounds like a step backwards. There was nothing wrong with the old one. There is no need for a map when your looking at the timetable.

This Thing Is Horrible

What a step backwards. Incomplete/inaccurate info: DEN-LON on AA 56 - a 737-800? No other aircraft listed. Have to drill down individually for itineraries. Updates for offline info loads very slowly. Unwanted map info of 1. route (I know where Denver and London are), 2. Cities maps, 3. Airports maps. Looks like it was "enhanced" for a very infrequent flyer. A "fix" for something that wasn't broken.

The massive PDF timetable has similar inaccuracies - it doesn't show EQV (equipment varies) for change of gauge flights, only the first aircraft type.

Me, too. I am really like it, but I haven't used desktop timetable for a very long time. Surely I miss the old timetable. I am very sad about that.

Disappointed at loss of "old" timetable app

I was trying to work out what had happened to the OW timetable app (lack of updates etc), and came across this forum. Thanks for the posts - all very informative. Sadly, I can't use the new app as my existing (reliable) XP powered laptop will not support the new app. I also strongly agree that OW should be using their IT resources to fix the problems in the exiting booking tool and leave well enough alone with the timetable app. OW, please rethink this very poor decision.
