Global Explorer - Stopovers on Surface Legs?
Hi All,
Am currently booking a RTW ticket and am torn between the OWE and GLOB options - trying to make sure I can get the most out of the ticket, especially in South America where making one's own way is expensive.
I have read the rules and various posts but I am stuck on the following with the GLOB option: If I have a surface sector, does this increase the stopover count in that region by one or two? ie if I was to go SCL-EZE EZE-GIG GIG-LIM with EZE-GIG surface, would this be 3 or 4 stopovers?
Thanks to anyone who can help me out.
Adam

OK thanks very much for the speedy reply- that could open up some more options...
Our aim is to do SYD-SCL-EZE-IGU/IGR-GIG-LIM-UIO-BOG-PTY then overland to MEX (lots of stops, I know). The best option by a OWE that I've found is to book: SYD-SCL, SCL-EZE, EZE-GRU, GRU-LIM, LIM-UIO, UIO-MEX, with the green legs in surface, replacing them with separately booked flights (EZE-IGU, IGR-GIG, GIG-GRU then UIO-BOG, BOG-PTY).
Can anyone help out and advise whether there might be a better option with the GLOB using the 4 stopovers?
Thanks all,
Adam

Some years ago, I did an LGLOB34 with -MCO-ORD-[surface]-LAX-. The surface involved a number of stops with buses, flights and trains through Iowa, DEN, YVR, DFW and down the west coast. as far as the GLOB was concerned, it was just a straight ORD-LAX.
