BA or Qantas Y+

I have an upcoming trip from LHR to DXB and can go Qantas or BA Y+. I'd like to try to the Qantas A380, but I'm used to paying for the BA upgrades usually on offer. Do Qantas offer something similar when available (and does buying an upgrade with them still earn tier points and Avios?). If I end up in Y+ how does it compare with BAs?

QF's Y+ is normally considered one of (if not) the best implementations.

OTOH, with QF you get what you originally paid for. Upgrades (except for the OW Emerald QFF members) are rare even when willing to pay with QF points. POUGs as offered by BA do not exist.

Happy wandering

You can apply for an upgrade on a QF marketed flight (QF flight number) operated on a QF aircraft on an QF eligible ticket with QF points. Not all QF fare/tickets are able to be upgraded. Any way the odds of winning the QF upgrade lottery are low.

QF also have the bidding/auction system. Will not be cheap. If this earns more BA avois, than the fare you paid for I have no idea
